The Patient Care Technician program combines three skill sets in one program — nurse aide patient care, phlebotomy, and electrocardiography — so graduates can work across hospitals, long-term care and skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, dialysis units, telemetry floors, physician offices, outpatient clinics, and home health agencies.
The program runs approximately four months across nine modules: healthcare fundamentals; safety, compliance and infection control; aseptic technique; basic patient care and activities of daily living; vital signs, mobility and patient safety; respiratory care and wound management; phlebotomy and specimen collection; electrocardiography and cardiac monitoring; and special populations with certification preparation.
Certification eligibility and examination requirements are established by the respective certifying agencies. Certification examination fees are separate from tuition.
EKG Technicians perform electrocardiograms and cardiac monitoring procedures that help physicians diagnose heart conditions. Students learn to prepare patients, place electrodes, operate EKG equipment, apply Holter and event monitors, assist with stress testing, and recognize rhythm abnormalities that require immediate attention.
The program covers five modules: EKG fundamentals and cardiac anatomy; safety, compliance and patient care; EKG acquisition and cardiac monitoring; EKG analysis and diagnostic testing; and rhythm interpretation and cardiac emergencies. Students perform hands-on three-lead, five-lead, twelve-lead, right-sided, and posterior EKG acquisition, apply telemetry and ambulatory monitors, and complete competency validations throughout the program.
No prerequisites or co-requisites are required. The program prepares students for the NHA Certified EKG Technician (CET) examination and is a common add-on credential for CNAs, medical assistants, and phlebotomists expanding into cardiac testing.
Start your healthcare career with our Phlebotomy program. Training includes theory and hands-on instruction in venipuncture, finger stick and dermal puncture, patient identification, order of draw, specimen integrity, aseptic technique, isolation procedures, and infection control protocols.
Phlebotomists work in hospitals, clinical laboratories, physician offices, blood and plasma donor centers, and mobile draw services, and can specialize in pediatrics, geriatrics, or critical care.
Become a Pharmacy Technician through our hybrid program, recognized by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Coursework covers introduction to pharmacy practice, pharmacy law and ethics, federal regulation of controlled substances, pharmaceutical calculations and dosage math, pharmacology, medication safety, prescription processing, and pharmacy operations.
Graduates are prepared to pursue national certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) from PTCB or the Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Pharmacy technicians work in community, hospital, long-term care, mail-order, and specialty pharmacies.
An optional 160-hour pharmacy externship provides supervised, hands-on experience in an approved pharmacy practice setting. Certification examination fees are separate from tuition.
Secure your future in healthcare with our Medical Assistant program, which trains students to function as multi-skilled technicians in ambulatory healthcare delivery systems. PALS is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children, and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units. General requirements include being at least 18 years of age, a high school diploma or recognized equivalent, valid state identification, and the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to participate in classroom, laboratory, and clinical activities. Program-specific requirements may include a negative tuberculosis (PPD) result, immunization records, background check, or drug screening.
